As the Family Travel Expert for VISITFLORIDA.com, I get hundreds of questions regarding topics related to family vacations. I recently had one regarding where to rent baby equipment. I think most parents would find the following site helpful:

The site brings some very good points to parents’ attention. Here are some very helpful tips. Remember that every question is a good question when it comes to your child’s safety. Don’t ever be hesitant to ask about safety issues in regard to equipment:
-
Type of Equipment
When renting baby equipment while traveling, you need to be as diligent as you would be if you were purchasing a used item. For instance, ask questions that will help you understand the type of equipment you are renting. Different people mean different things when they use the terms "crib", "full-size crib,” and "portable crib.”
-
Recalls
Verify the company checks for equipment recalls. Or, now that you know the make and model of the equipment, you can check yourself by going to http://www.recalls.gov:
-
- What is the make and model of the equipment?
- What are the dimensions?
- What are the manufacturer's recommendations regarding age, height and weight for the product.
- Certifications
It is important to inquire whether or not the product is JPMA Certified. JPMA is the leader in product safety and its usage. Verify the equipment meets JPMA standards.

- Costs
Ask for all costs related to renting items from the company.
Be sure to ask about delivery, gasoline, set-up, late fees etc.
Also check on the cancellation policies.
- Cleanliness and Safety
- Product Knowledge
Rental representatives should be able to demonstrate cleanliness standards and product knowledge on all the equipment they carry. If necessary, they can help you decide which product best fits your needs.
