This month, our Resort Hot Pick is a place in Orlando where relaxation is possible. Afterall, even family vacations should include some rest! Once you enter the grounds of the Ritz-Carlton, Grande Lakes, you can find some tranquility nestled away from the crowded theme parks.  Bring the kids. My husband and I like to take them to the parks and then come back to this property and relax. They offer a kids’ club, so if you want some couple time, you can find that too on your family vacation.

I woke up at this property and seriously had to think about where I was:  Heaven, maybe.  This resort properties offers something for every family member -- from spa parties to fly-fishing!

The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes offers families a stylish way to indulge in the playful offerings of this property - inspired by the grand palazzos of Italy.  Features include:

  • More than 500 guest rooms
  • 11 exceptional dining establishments
  • Easy access to world famous attractions such as Walt Disney World (10miles) and SeaWorld (two miles); complimentary transportation to and from SeaWorld, Universal Orlando and Wet 'n Wild - advance reservations required through the Concierge.

Many properties, especially in Florida, are catching on to the idea that people often like to have a relaxing holiday -- without feeling the pressures of leaving the resort.  This property offers so much to do, it’s hard to imagine going anywhere else!

Take for example, the fact that Grande Lakes Outfitters features the ORVIS Orlando Two-Day Fly Fishing school, private guided fly fishing from Hyde Drift Boats and private guided eco-tours on Shingle Creek, the headwaters to the Florida Everglades.

Fly fishing excursions take place on the 40-acre Shingle Pond (parallel to Shingle Creek), which sits on the most remote section of Grande Lakes. Here, guests board Hyde Drift boats alongside an ORVIS-endorsed guide team and fish the private waters of Shingle Creek, where fly fishing enthusiasts reel in the catch of the day. Guests also have an opportunity to spin or fly fish two miles of Shingle Creek on the Headwaters to  the Everglades. During their fly fishing adventure, guests also can catch a glimpse of bobcats, deer and wild turkey roaming at the shoreline.
